Engine 1 arrived at 1823hrs to find fire showing from the chimney, upgrading the incident to a working fire for additional manpower. Ladder 1 (with six) arrived and began ventilating and accessing the roof via aerial ladder. Division 1 quickly determined that there was no extension into the attic and that the chimney and its components were structurally unsound. The roof division worked for over an hour to extinguish the stubborn blaze. By orders of command, Rescue 5 shored up the fire place/ceiling area on the 1st floor to make it safe enough for the city building inspector to evaluate the homes integrity. Units operating: E-1, L-1, W-1, W-8, R-5, RS-2, and Medic 1. Total Company 1 personnel:16.
